Watch me grow!

I am happy to report that I haven't gotten sick the past two mornings!! Yippee. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I've turned the corner in the 2nd trimester. I've also been able to make Nick his favorite drink the last 2 mornings (quad tall non-fat hazelnut latte). The poor guy.. I haven't made him one for the last month.
What's currently happening with the baby? It's 4 - 4.5 inches, weighs about 1 3/4 ounces and it's close to the size of a softball.
Fine hair called lanugo hair is now covering the baby's body. The baby also is able to suck its thumb now and by the end of this week may even start making a fist with it's hands!
Last night I was in bed by 8:15 and sound alseep by 8:30. haha! Will I ever feel like I am caught up on my sleep?
My belly is hard and I feel like I am showing more and more each day. Today I think I felt the baby moving around!! In all the books I'm reading, they say that within the next 2 weeks I should start to feel the baby moving. I'm not sure what I should be feeling. I've heard that it is either going to feel like gas or "fluttering".
Craving this week? Fruit. I've had about 10 peaches this week, 5 bananas, lots of grapes, a few oranges.. and um.. that's all I can think of now. ;-) It's about all that sounds good when I want a snack.

Above is the scan of our ultrasound that was done on May 20th. This was the first time that we saw the baby moving around!

Check it out! A month later and look at how much he or she has grown. =)
Pretty amazing, huh? I think he or she has my nose and Nick's eyes.

These are the pictures that we got on June 22nd. It's the appointment when we saw the baby move its head back and stretch out its leg at the same time!
Remember... we find out what we are having on July 28th!

Baby Jones!

Today Nick and I had another appointment with the doctor. I am currently 14.4 weeks (in doctor's terms). During the last visit my sister-in-law Renee and I were able to hear the blood flowing through the placenta, but today we were able to hear the heartbeat for the first time which sounds strong and healthy! Dr. Call also gave us a look at the little one using the ultrasound machine. We saw him or her moving around!! It was honestly one of the greatest moments we've had since finding out we were pregnant. The baby moved his or her head back and kicked out a leg at the same time. Even though I can't feel it yet, I should be able to within the next few weeks. We also got a good look at the head in profile and the spine. Everything looks great!
I am also down 1.5 pounds from our first appointmet back on April 21st. (I had lost 4 pounds during the first 6 weeks). I'm hoping to only gain 20-25 pounds during the pregnancy.. but we'll see.
I'm starting to get a little more energy back and am able to stay up past 8:30. I'm still getting sick every morning which I am very lucky to have Nick around to rub my back. Last week I said that I need to start waking up 15 minutes earlier because I'm running late everyday!
The craving this week has been: corn on the cob!!
We had corn on the cob and bbq chicken last night and tonight we had bbq pork ribs, corn on the cob and pea salad! Yum. I'm also having peanut butter and eggos for breakfast (switching to whole wheat toast tomorrow). It stays with me all morning and is a great way to start my day.

Ashley and Jordyn flew into Seattle on Saturday. Ashley and Russell are on a cruise in Alaska this week while Jordyn is staying with Grandma Veronica and Grandpa Bruce. My mom and I picked up Ashley and Jordyn at the airport and were able to spend the day together before Jordyn went home with Grammy while Nick, Ashley and I took off to the M's game. It was a very long day but well worth it!!!

Lunch at the Crab Pot on the waterfront.

Jordyn playing with a straw. She is SOOOO cute.

In the beer garden at Pyramid Brewery before the game.

So what you don't see in this picture is the tray of GARLIC fries that Nick also enjoyed during the game. Oh lord.. he stunk that night!! haha. (Note: chili dog in the tray with the beer).

I chose the pink cotton candy on purpose. ;-)

Nick enjoying his nap the next day. It was honestly about 2.5 hours!

13th week = 2nd Trimester!!

Yes. That's right. We're now into our 2nd trimester and most women have said that it's the best out of the three! I'm going to soak it in and enjoy every minute.. okay, well most of them!
This week: All of the organs are formed, the eyelids are now fused together and will be closed until the 30th week, and if we were able to get a sneak peek at the little one we would be able to see some tiny ribs!

This is Chester being bored with us setting up the crib we bought this weekend. He's laying in it. Actually both cats were very interested and loved the new furniture.
Nick and I purchased a crib and changing table/dresser off of Craig's List. It's in great condition and both are a good size. There's no way we could have bought this stuff brand new for the price we paid. $200 for both. The lady we bought it from even threw in sheets, changing pad, 4 covers for the changing pad and 3 covers/protectors for the matress as well! What a deal.
We also picked up off of Craig's List a crib set (everything included) for $50. It's from Potty Barn and is perfect for a boy or a girl. Later on in the blog is a picture of the blanket.

Dad-to-be setting up his first crib! (He followed the instructions!)

Gizmo thought this was his new bed.

I spy Gizmo on the changing table.

It's a light colored green on the other side and is super soft!

We had a great weekend up at LCP and even got a walk in! The weather was amazing, finally!

12 weeks and counting!

I've been reading 3 books since I've been pregnant, and am going to share information about what the baby is doing and how much and fast he/she is growing from one of them on a weekly basis. Here are links to the books:

They're all great and informational, and as of yet i don't have a favorite. This last Saturday I woke Nick up and read some information from The Mayo Clinic book. Good news... one more week and I'll be in my second trimester!!

This week: His or her ears and nose are becoming more refined! The fingernails and toenails arrive, it's about 3 inches long and weighs about 4/5 of an ounce!

I've felt like I've gotten sick every day this week even though I know that's not the case, but still, I've gotten sick about 5 times. I'm still sleeping a lot and try to get 8 or more hours of sleep each night. I'm becoming more forgetful and the craving for this week has been grilled cheese sandwiches! I never knew how hard it was to find a good grilled cheese from somewhere other than my home. Most places make it with american cheese, which I don't like. I really want one made with real cheddar cheese!! I have a feeling that we will be having that for dinner one night this week. ;-)

With all of the excitement about the baby and me being pregnant - it's really worn the cats out!

Nick and I purchased a B.O.B. stroller this week! It was on sale at REI. Here's the link:

For years, I've wanted a B.O.B. stroller. I think they look really cool and are very handy to have. I'm not a jogger and I know they are a "jogging stroller" but I do plan on being an active mom with a very active baby! If Nick would have let me, I would have bought a B.O.B. before we even were married! haha!

The cats also got in and out of the big box behind the stroller! It's funny how much they love boxes!

Nick did a great job at putting it all together and then we each had a chance to try it out!

I also bought some maternity clothes this week. A pair of shorts, some capris, a few tanktops and a cute shirt. I'm not showing yet but things are starting to change or get harder down there which I can tell because some of my clothes are starting to get a little snug. Nick and I are going to start taking "belly shots" this week and every week after that to track the growth progress. Sorry - I'm not posting any belly shots until I'm really showing! =)

And yes... my due date is still December 18th! haha. (one week before Christmas). My next doctor's appointment is June 22nd.
